The skin tags may appear, singly or more than one, as small protrusion of the skin or as thick perianal cutaneous folds. They are a simple thickening of the skin at the external anal margin, which appear spontaneously, or as a fibrous cutaneous tissueorganization after a hematoma, or as consequences of infective processes. Some are referred to as sentinel skin-tags or sentinel haemorrhoids because fissures sometimes produce a fold located between two haemorrhoids. Generally idiopathic skin tags are soft and covered by normal skin. Idiopathic skin tags do not require treatment.
