The Sapi Med Time-Markers are markers made up of hemispherical granules that can follow exactly the path of food throughout the digestive tract and in particular in the intestinal tract without altering the digestive and intestinal function in any way. When taken in a single solution with liquid or semi-liquid food (for example yoghurt, purée and soup) and radiologically located at pre-established times, radiopaque markers allow to determine the intestinal transit times in those patients suffering from faecal expulsion disorders: chronic diarrhoea and colonic constipation resulting in slowing of intestinal transit, and in patients with irritable bowel syndrome.

Moreover, the use of Time-Markers allows to locate any intestinal transit problems due to narrowing of the lumen caused, for example, by stenosis, compression, localised peristalsis slowing. Through the comparison with regular transit times, therefore, the use of Time-Markers can facilitate the identification and the importance of any problems and the consequent decision on the therapies to be adopted.
