Stoma dilator

 
The Sapi Med’s Dilastom® stoma dilator is a medical device specifically designed to perform a home treatment of cutaneous and fascial colostomy stenosis with complete safety and convenience. Stenosis, or narrowing of the stoma lumen, can be distinguished in:

  • early and late, in relation to onset from surgery;
  • skin and bandage, depending on whether the narrowing is at skin level or at the level of the muscle aponeurosis (fibrous membrane that wraps the muscle).

In the case of colostomy stenosis, the discharge of the faeces and the execution of the irrigation can become very difficult: the passage of the faeces, especially if of hard consistency, can cause strong pain, and the introduction of the irrigation cone can be difficult, forcing the patient to measures that can be risky. For this reason, it is effective to implement dilating therapy: the progressive and continuous use of the Dilastom® stoma dilator blocks the progressive narrowing of the external orifice of the colostomy.
